Mercedes Ashley arrives at the house of a reclusive neighbor named Jim. He had requested that she come by to discuss an important issue affecting their neighborhood. Mercedes is on her way to meet a friend for dinner so she is a bit impatient. She greets Jim and immediately asks: "So what did you want to talk to me about?" Then she notices that he is filming her.
"Wait.. what are you doing with the camera?" she inquires with puzzlement. "Is that thing really recording?"
Jim does not respond with words. Instead he just starts waving his hand in front of her face like he is casting a spell. Mercedes immediately becomes both irritated and baffled.
"What are you doing with your hands?" she asks him.
Then she notices a book lying near Jim. She walks over to it, looks at it, and then shakes her head.
"This is a spellbook!" she exclaims with astonishment. "You're trying to cast a spell on me!"
She reads a little more and says: "What, you're trying to turn me into stone?!"
Her expression makes it clear that she thinks that Jim has lost his mind. Unfortunately for Mercedes Jim knows exactly what he is doing and gradually her once vital flesh freezes into pure granite..
